Carroll Shelby's American performance house, founded 1962. The original Cobra (a Ford 260/289 V8 dropped into an AC Ace) beat Ferrari at Le Mans in 1965 with the Daytona Coupe. Today: Shelby American hand-builds the Mustang Shelby GT500 and limited-run Cobra continuations.
